The 10th Annual Gift of Life and Breath 5K will take place on May 20, 2017
Thank you to those who ran in or contributed to this year’s race at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus! More than 400 people registered and helped raise invaluable research funds and increase community awareness in support of finding an early detection method for lung cancer.
The proceeds raised combine with an institutional matching gift to make $100,000 available to researchers in 2016. A competitive grant application process will be announced later this year for research focused on the early detection of lung cancer. Please check back on this website for more information.
We look forward to seeing you at the 10th annual race in May of 2017!

Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in both men and women in the United States. It causes more deaths than the next three most common cancers combined (colon, breast, and pancreatic). An estimated 159,260 Americans died from lung cancer in 2014, accounting for approximately 27% of all cancer deaths.*
With a direct focus on the early detection of lung cancer, the goal of this event is to offer a positive outreach to the community and give lung cancer the immediate attention it needs. Public awareness and support are both key factors in attracting the funding that is needed for this important endeavor.
The race is a means of thanking the participants for the gift they are giving to the future…the gift of life and breath
